How will my ER bill get paid?
It is important to let the emergency room know it is a Workers’ Compensation injury when you check in. If you fail to do this, do it as quickly as possible so the bill department can send the bill to the Insurance Company.
If the injuries you were treated for are accepted by the Insurance Company they should be responsible for the bill. A problem can arise if the Insurance Company alleges the ER treated you for an injury that it has not accepted as compensable. If you get a bill send it to your adjuster.
Sometimes a dispute arises on the issue of whether you were treated for a non-compensable injury. In many cases, the insurance company and ER will work it out. Be aware that the above applies to an ER visit right after the accident and not subsequent visits where you go without being referred by your treating Workers’ Compensation doctor.
