Do I have the right to receive medical care?
The law says that you have the right to receive medical treatment that is reasonable and necessary and caused by your work injury. In most cases, you must see a doctor that is part of the Insurance Company’s Network. There are some exceptions, such as for emergency medical care or if you do not live in the Network Service Area.
- If you do not make an initial choice of a Network Doctor within 14 days, the Network will assign a treating doctor to you. If you live outside the Network’s Service Area you can choose a treating doctor from the Division’s Approved Doctor’s List (ADL).
- If you are dissatisfied with your initial choice of treating doctor, you can select another doctor from the Network’s list of doctors, but the Network much approve any further change of doctor.
- If you are required to seek medical treatment within a Network and you see a Non-Network Provider, you will probably be liable for the cost of the medical care.
